We're working at the state level to stop discriminatory and unconstitutional bills.

ACLU Supporter, with state legislative sessions underway across the country, our team is fighting hard to protect all of our rights.

We're facing a coordinated attack on all fronts – from the attacks on our reproductive freedom to efforts to restrict our voting rights. But the ACLU has the strategy to fight back. Thanks to our unique reach and 50 state (plus D.C. and Puerto Rico!) strategy, we're able to stop discriminatory maps and unconstitutional bills at the state level – before they ever become law.

At the top of the week, here are three stories we're tracking in the states:

* In North Carolina… We're fighting against the racist death penalty. <[link removed]> We're representing a Black man who was sentenced to death by a majority white jury – while the prosecution removed Black jurors at three times the rate of white jurors. Although our work to end capital punishment continues, this case could be a major step forward for racial justice.

* In Texas… We're suing Governor Abbott over an extreme anti-immigrant law <[link removed]> that would lead to racial profiling and family separations. Already, the Supreme Court has paused the law from going into effect, and we won't stop until this law is struck down once and for all.

* In Georgia… We're advocating for privacy bills that put our rights first. <[link removed]> The Georgia Senate just passed one of the worst data privacy bills in the country, protecting big tech companies while leaving our personal information – and our online security – totally vulnerable. The ACLU of Georgia is driving calls to the House to keep our data from being sold to the highest bidder.

Thanks for staying informed,

The ACLU Team
