America Is a Country, Not a Labor Market
By Steven A. Camarota
National Review, March 11, 2024
Excerpt: recent Wall Street Journal opinion piece by Dutch professor Hein de Haas on why America needs to allow in many more unskilled immigrants is filled with the usual talking points about “labor shortages” and the like. But what is so striking about De Haas’s arguments is that in a full-page, 1,700-word essay he never even hints at any possible counter-arguments to his assertions, even if only to dismiss them. He also appears to be entirely unaware of the disadvantages of allowing in large numbers of people who have relatively little education.

By Nayla Rush
Excerpt: The legality of the Biden administration’s extensive use of parole has been widely questioned, including by my colleagues George Fishman, Andrew Arthur, and Elizabeth Jacobs. Excerpt: Nearly two dozen lawmakers have cited CIS reporting in a letter demanding an end to a Biden program that has authorized hundreds of thousands of inadmissible aliens to fly sight unseen from foreign airports into dozens of American ones for quick release into the country on parole.
Biden’s DOJ Gags Immigration Judges
By Andrew R. Arthur
Excerpt: Judges (NAIJ) — which represents the interests of the 730-plus immigration judges (IJs) — that its members may no longer communicate with the public without DOJ sign-off. That prompted Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), a senior member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and no fan of government coverups, to send a letter to Attorney General (AG) Merrick Garland asking about this alleged attempt to stifle IJs’ free-speech rights. Whatever could the Biden administration be trying to hide?
