A Surprising Turn of Events for Chinese-Owned TikTok |
Final countdown: The House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, a bill that presents TikTok with an ultimatum: Either Chinese Communist Party-controlled ByteDance sells the app, or it will face restrictions in U.S. app stores. Heritage scholars have been sounding the alarm about the security threats that TikTok poses for years—one of the few conservative groups to do so.
- In early 2023, Heritage published the groundbreaking report by Tech Policy Center Director Kara Frederick—“TikTok Generation: A CCP Official in Every Pocket”—that laid out TikTok’s abuses and called for a wholesale ban of TikTok operations in the U.S.
- Heritage calls the bill a win-win: It would protect personal data while still allowing people to use the app.

- We are witnessing the long-awaited demise of the union-dominated K-12 education system.
