When you donate to Orbis in honor of Women’s History Month, you’re helping us support dedicated eye care partners like Dr. Doménica Diaz Ubieta and Dr. Lady Celis Suarez. With your help, both of these dedicated doctors received hands-on training at Orbis partner hospital National Institute of Ophthalmology (INO) in Lima, Peru.

Dr. Doménica and Dr. Lady have been working hard to improve their surgical skills in strabismus. If left uncorrected, strabismus can lead to severe vision loss, low self-esteem, and hinder children from accessing an education and other opportunities. In too many communities around the world, young girls aren’t able to access treatment until they’re adults.

At INO, these two passionate surgeons learned advanced techniques and made huge strides forward in their skills to correct strabismus – all so they can reach more patients who need treatment. And with Cybersight, our award-winning e-learning platform, they can continue their training at their own pace.

Providing hands-on training for amazing women like Dr. Doménica and Dr. Lady is just one of the ways Orbis is working to remove barriers to eye care for women everywhere.
