Governor Doug Ducey, Arizona Department of Health Services Director Dr. Cara Christ, Superintendent of Public Instruction Kathy Hoffman and Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs Director Major General Michael T. McGuire today held a briefing to share updates on COVID-19. The Governor discussed Arizona’s recent actions to slow the spread of the virus and support people impacted including providing funding to support vulnerable Arizonans ([link removed]) , working with banks to protect small businesses and families from eviction and foreclosure ([link removed]) and expanding access to unemployment benefits ([link removed]) .

Today, Governor Ducey issued a "stay home, stay healthy, stay connected" Executive Order to further slow the spread of COVID-19 ([link removed]) while encouraging social connectedness. Additionally, the Governor and Superintendent Hoffman today announced the extension of Arizona school closures through the end of the school year ([link removed]) . The extension follows updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and an announcement from the White House extending physical distancing guidelines until April 30, 2020.

This weekend, the Governor signed a bipartisan state budget agreement that adds $50 million for Arizona’s COVID-19 response ([link removed]) — dollars to assist Arizonans needing eviction assistance, struggling small businesses, our food banks and our homeless population.
