In case you haven't heard, the Supreme Court is hearing two cases this term that could severely impact abortion care in states throughout the country.

One case will determine if significant and medically unnecessary restrictions will be put in place on mifepristone . Mifepristone is an extremely safe (safer than Tylenol!) and effective medication typically used in medication abortion care and miscarriage management. If the Supreme Court rules in favor of the anti-abortion extremists who brought this case, it would impact access to mifepristone in states across the country—including in states without abortion bans.

The other case is about the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) , a federal law that makes sure people can access the emergency medical care they need. Since its inception nearly 40 years ago, EMTALA has always covered emergency abortion care. Now, anti-abortion extremists are attempting to argue that EMTALA should not apply to emergency abortion care in states that have abortion bans in place—no matter the consequences to someone's health or life.

This is the anti-abortion movement's playbook: Take away our freedom and control our bodies, without concerns for our safety, health, or lives. If they get their way in both of these cases, someone could be forced to continue a pregnancy that they otherwise would have chosen to end with medication abortion—and then be denied emergency medical care resulting from that pregnancy.

We're preparing to fight back, no matter what the Supreme Court decides in both of these cases. But we need your help to make sure as many people as possible know the stakes of these decisions, which we expect later this year.
