CASEWORK HIGHLIGHT: Securing Widower's IRS Refund A constituent contacted Andrew's office after he had received a refund check from the IRS late in the year following his wife's passing. The refund check was a joint return and he couldn’t get a straight answer out of the Treasury Department or the IRS as to how to get the name changed so he could cash it as an individual without his late wife. Andrew's casework team got in touch with the IRS and the constituent was able to secure the refund check after clearing up the discrepancy. Andrew knows how frustrating dealing with bureaucracy can be. That is why he has an entire team dedicated to helping constituents get what they need from the government. If you need help dealing with a federal agency, contact our office and our team will get to work on your case. KEEPING UP WITH CONGRESS Andrew Votes To Protect Americans From Chinese Surveillance This week, Andrew voted for H.R. 7521, the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, which passed the House with a bipartisan vote of 352 – 65. This legislation protects Americans and prevents foreign adversaries, such as China, from targeting, surveilling, and manipulating the American people through online applications like TikTok. In a statement, Andrew said, "To have such a globally popular social media platform like TikTok controlled by foreign adversaries poses an unacceptable risk to U.S. national security and allows our adversaries to surveil and influence the American public, both through the data we produce and the information we share and consume." The Biden Administration's policies have led to a crisis at our southern border, exasperated the fentanyl crisis, exposed our nation to drug and human traffickers and members of the terrorist watch list, and ultimately put both Americans and migrants at risk. This Resolution formally expresses the sense of the House of Representatives that President Biden's immigration policies are to blame, in conjunction with other efforts of Republicans in the House and Senate to secure the southern border.
