Dear John,

We are ready.

Our conference in York has left me in no doubt of that.

Whenever Rishi finally calls the election, we’ve got the policies, the candidates and the campaigners to get the Conservatives out and elect more brilliant Liberal Democrat MPs.

As I said in my conference speech just now, I firmly believe that we are the strongest campaigning force in British politics. With your help, we can make this a once-in-a-generation election.

We can transform our country for the better. We can deliver a fair deal for the British people.

And it’s up to us, because no other party is putting forward the big, bold changes this moment demands.

When so much in our country isn’t working, “steady as she goes” simply isn’t going to cut it. Tinkering around the edges won’t come close to solving anything.

That’s why – from political reform to the NHS, the environment to our relationship with Europe – the Liberal Democrat approach is so different.

We don’t just want to change things on the surface. We want to change the whole system.
