Today, we are fighting to save lives, and to keep America working. We began 2020 with optimism, an election year full of promise. Today, we are fighting to save lives, and to keep America working. It is said that the worst times can bring out the best in all of us. In Congress, Democrats and Republicans stepped up and quickly passed three bills, including just last week when we passed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, the $2 Trillion dollar legislation, that will provide Americans with immediate medical and economic help. This record setting legislation will save lives, help Americans make ends meet through receiving direct tax refunds, and ensure hard-working citizens remain employed. It wasn’t easy, but by working together, we got it done. On Main Street, where “rubber meets the road,” I’m inspired to see neighbors coming together to support each other, delivering groceries to those in need, volunteers donating time and money to our healthcare centers and hospitals, and clergy and congregants supporting our most vulnerable. Over the last week, I’ve been part of food drives and prayer meetings, and these local efforts will continue. This is what we Americans do, step up and get it done. Let’s take a moment away from consuming all negativity on the news and social media, take a deep breath, and recognize the millions of our fellow Americans who are supporting our neighbors.
