Dear Jack,

I hope you all are staying safe at home with your family during this challenging time. Our lives are changing minute by minute, and I want to make sure you're updated on what Virginia is doing to keep you safe.

Stay At Home

Today, Governor Northam issued Executive Order 55, which puts into place a mandatory stay-at-home order statewide. Virginians will still be able to buy food and medicine, receive healthcare and other essential services, go to work (if essential), and exercise outside (while maintaining a six foot distance from other people). However, all gatherings of more than 10 people are prohibited, and violators can be charged with a Class 1 misdemeanor. This order is in effect at least through June 10th. For more information, you can read the Governor's press release on Executive Order 55: [link removed]

Get Help

Isolation due to coronavirus can be a tough thing to get through to begin with -- it's even more difficult if you're facing domestic abuse, suicidal thoughts, or any other kind of crisis.

If you're experiencing domestic abuse, you can visit thehotline.org or call 1-800-799-7233 to get access to resources. You can also text LOVEIS to 22522 if you are unable to talk safely.

If you're experiencing suicidal thoughts, you can call 1-800-273-8255 to talk to someone. It's okay to reach out and ask for help.

Now that we're all (hopefully) at home, what better time to complete the 2020 Census! The Census is totally confidential, it takes less than five minutes, and it determines state and Congressional districts, as well as federal funding for our community. Stand up and be counted at 2020census.gov.
