Right now, 1.6 million American children are enrolled in Catholic schools, and the school system they love is under threat of extinction because some states don't allow their parents to direct education tax dollars to their child's school. 

This isn't just the loss of an American institution. This is the withering of educational options in our most at-risk neighborhoods. 

Because these schools aren't just for Catholics. 

There's a beautiful phrase you will hear from Catholic educators: "We don't teach these kids because they're Catholic. We teach because we're Catholic." 

Unlike what you might have heard about private schools, Catholic schools don't just open where there is existing parent wealth. As a charitable work, they open where there is a need for a quality education option, no matter what. 

In fact, many of these schools are the only other option for parents in areas with failing public schools. We believe those families deserve that alternative which is why we're fighting for school choice.
