John –

It’s been two weeks since many Delawareans started staying home in an effort to flatten the curve and help slow the spread of the coronavirus.

But still, there are many individuals in our communities who are getting up every day, leaving their families and heading into work in order to keep the rest of us safe.

They are the doctors, nurses, first responders, caretakers and many others who are on the front lines of this fight. They are the ones often putting their own health at risk in order to protect others.

Earlier this month, I asked you all to share a few kind words of encouragement and thanks with the health care workers we are depending on more than ever, and your responses were overwhelming! In just over 24 hours, Delawareans from all over our state shared hundreds of thoughtful, heartwarming messages for people who they do not know, but so appreciate.

I’d like to share just some of those messages with you today. Here’s one from Gary from New Castle:

MESSAGES FOR OUR HEALTH CARE WORKERS

I’ve posted the rest on my Twitter account. I would encourage you to read them and share them far and wide so that we make sure our health care workers know that we are thinking about them.

And can I ask you a favor? On #NationalDoctorsDay, can you forward this message to at least one person you know who works in our health care system and who might need some words of encouragement during this tough time?

Remember: we all need to stay home to better protect each other, especially those on the front lines in our hospitals. By keeping our distance, we’ll beat this together.

Keep up the good work,

Tom

We cannot beat this virus on our own; it’s going to take all of us working together, being responsible and caring for those around us.

In that spirit, can you forward this email to five friends today? Make sure that people in your circle have access to updated information from public health experts and the latest information those on the front lines.
