Hi There,

You may have seen this week that former President Donald Trump said “there is a lot you can do in terms of cutting” when referring to Social Security and Medicare. I think he’s wrong.

Social Security and Medicare benefit our entire society. Seniors who have paid into Social Security for decades deserve to reap the benefits of their contributions. And they deserve to have reliable, affordable health care–including for prescription drugs.

For decades, the pharmaceutical industry and congressional Republicans blocked attempts to negotiate drug prices. Democrats, under President Biden’s leadership, finally succeeded in passing drug price negotiation, which will lower prices and save taxpayers money on Medicare. Why would anyone want to get rid of that?

Donald Trump has promised that if he returns to the White House, he’ll implement even more extreme programs than his first term. That could mean a national abortion ban, slashing Medicare and Social Security, cutting green project investments in communities, and more.

That’s why we must reelect President Biden and Vice President Harris in November. They’ll fight to codify Roe, expand Medicare and Social Security, and invest even more in green projects that will help our communities.

We’re in this together,

Peter
