Folks, leaders in Albany took decisive steps to pass emergency 14-day paid sick leave for anyone who is quarantined because of COVID-19, and Congress passed similar legislation shortly after that applied to companies with less than 500 employees.

But here’s the thing: It shouldn’t take a global pandemic for people to have the flexibility they need to care for themselves or their children. And regardless of who they work for, no one should have to work while sick out of fear of losing their job or keeping a roof over their head.

The research couldn’t be more clear: Paid sick leave is good for American workers, good for business, and good for our economy. That’s why Yvette co-sponsored the Healthy Families Act, which would guarantee that every employee at a company with 15 or more employees receives 1 hour of paid sick time for every 30 hours worked. And she has led the fight to get it passed despite serious pushback from the Republican caucus.
