Psychedelic drugs were outlawed by the federal government more than 50 years ago, and for most of that time, the idea of making them legal again was politically unthinkable. But over the past few years, even conservative lawmakers have begun supporting efforts to bring psychedelics back for use under certain conditions.

This week on Reveal, we attend the largest psychedelic drug conference. We meet veterans who decided not to wait for legalized psychedelic-assisted therapy. And we join a woman from Oakland, California, as she documents her journey with ketamine.

** Ex-Bishop at Center of Our Investigation Into Mormon Church Has Been Arrested
------------------------------------------------------------

The story of Idaho dentist John Goodrich was at the center of our collaboration with The Associated Press about how The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints protects itself from sexual abuse allegations. Goodrich’s daughter accused the ex-bishop of sexual abuse, starting when she was 9.

Now he has been arrested in Virginia ([link removed]) following a grand jury indictment on multiple felony charges, including forcible rape, forcible sodomy and aggravated sexual battery by a parent of a child.

Catholic health care companies are governed by the 77 rules in the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services, or ERDs. The ERDs dictate that Catholic hospitals can’t offer contraceptives or tubal ligations for the sole purpose of birth control, as well as fertility treatments like IVF or gender-affirming care.

As rural areas see their hospital chains replaced by Catholic services, even states that have sought to protect reproductive care can lose their options.
