Can I be blunt?
FIRST: My anti-choice Republican opponent David Reichert raised $1 million during the Washington fundraising freeze, when I couldn’t raise a dime.
THEN: A new PAC, reported to be supporting one of our opponents, received a single $75,000 check from a Big Oil corporation. To put that donation into context, we need 1,250 supporters to pitch in our average donation of $60 to match that ONE Big Oil corporation.
NOW: I’m reaching out to ask if you will contribute before midnight tomorrow — the mid-month mark — to help reach our ambitious $500,000 end-of-quarter goal.
Don’t underestimate how close our race will be. In Washington’s last two gubernatorial elections without an incumbent, the average margin of victory was just 1.5%. The Republican Governors Association spent more than $11 million the last time there was an open seat, and we expect they’ll spend even more in this race.
Unlike most politicians, I don’t accept donations from large corporations, so this $500,000 goal is only possible if thousands of donors like you pitch in.
