Dear john,
Three years ago this week, President Biden signed into law the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), a lifesaving, life-changing bill spearheaded by House Democrats that changed the course of the pandemic, created millions of jobs, kickstarted a successful national vaccination program, helped schools reopen, and funded critical projects in communities across the country.
In our very own community, ARPA funds were critical to our recovery with the City of El Paso and El Paso County receiving hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funds. I'm proud to have been the only member of our region to have voted for this bill.
I wanted to share with you some of the top national highlights from ARPA. According to the White House, this law:
- Ignited a period a historic job growth for our economy with over 15 million jobs since President Biden took office
- Powered our country to have the strongest economic recovery in the world from the pandemic
- Expanded the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), which led to record-breaking healthcare enrollments and savings
- Facilitated the largest small business boom in history due to its investments
- Led to the lowest child poverty rate in American history
- And so much more
The American Rescue Plan Act represents the very best of America when we dream big and address our challenges head on.
