My DFL colleagues and I are working with and listening to our local communities and leaders absorbing their invaluable insight and working hand-in-hand to address the challenges we all face. Our shared values drive our commitment to making life more affordable, ensuring working families have a secure future, and empowering everyone to reach their full potential.?
As extreme Republicans push tax cuts to benefit their wealthy and corporate backers, work to gut the investments families are depending on, and continue to drive wedges between Minnesotans, DFLers are working to ensure all Minnesotans can earn a good living, have the freedoms they deserve, and build a better life.?
Happy Ramadan! To our neighbors in Minnesota and across the world celebrating this holy month, I wish you a blessed time filled with reflection, joy, and togetherness.?
Minnesota Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund Survey?
The Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR), a 17-member state commission made up of legislators and citizens, is seeking the public?s help in determining priorities for future spending from the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund (ENRTF). The public?s input will help the LCCMR develop a new strategic plan to guide funding decisions for special environment, natural resources, and outdoor recreation projects for the next six years.?
Environment Bills in the News?
My E-waste bill has been getting a lot of attention and received bipartisan support. By updating Minnesota?s 2007 electronic waste recycling law we have the opportunity to reduce pollution, inspire economic activity, and recover valuable metals.?
Medical debt is the leading cause of bankruptcy in the country. That?s why DFLers have introduced the Debt Fairness Act.?
Too many people are saddled with unmanageable debt, and our current laws have been insufficient at addressing this dilemma. Medical debt depletes peoples? rainy-day funds, causes them to incur credit card debt, and to forgo medical treatment altogether. The Debt Fairness Act aims to unburden Minnesotans from medical debt, and help working, and middle-class families make ends meet.?
Democrats are dedicated to reducing the cost of health care and protecting against price-gouging. Earlier this month, Attorney General Keith Ellison announced a landmark settlement with the Eli Lily insulin company that caps insulin at just $35 for the next 5 years.?
Drug companies raised the price of insulin by over 1,100% between 1990 and 2020, and this settlement ensures that Minnesotans can afford their lives and live with dignity, safety, and respect.?
You can learn more about the settlement and how to get insulin for just $35 a month here: https://www.ag.state.mn.us/MNinsulin35/.?
