Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced [ [link removed] ] that the Ohio Department of Health, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Children and Youth, has awarded $5 million to 19 community- and faith-based organizations to improve supports to pregnant women and new parents.

Ohio Second Lady Tina Husted provided the keynote address at the 2024 Ohio Military Signing Day hosted by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce. The event honored high school juniors and seniors from across Ohio who have committed to military service (active duty, Reserve, National Guard, or service academy, or who have earned a Reserve Officer Training Corps Scholarship).

Lt. Governor Husted spoke at the grand opening of the Greater Dayton School?s new building. The school is Ohio?s first nonreligious, private school exclusively for under-resourced students. With an emphasis on academics and health, the school provides students with wraparound services including meals, medical care, dental care, and extracurricular activities.

Governor DeWine and Lt. Governor Husted hosted a roundtable discussion with schools from across the state to discuss how their cellphone policies have created a better learning environment for students and how other Ohio schools could implement their own policies.

Governor DeWine signed [ [link removed] ] Executive Order 2024-04D to assure Ohioans the state is well-prepared for the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024, that will cross a 124-mile-wide band in the state of Ohio.

Lt. Governor Husted joined the American Council of Engineering Companies of Ohio for its annual Engineering Excellence Awards. The awards recognize Ohio?s most innovative design projects and studies. This is the 24th year of the awards program in Ohio.

Governor DeWine and First Lady DeWine tours the Rasmussen Institute for Genomic Medicine at Nationwide Children's Hospital.

Governor DeWine, First Lady Fran DeWine, and Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff, director of the Ohio Department of Health, listened to a presentation by the directors and doctors with the Steve and Cindy Rasmussen Institute for Genomic Medicine at Nationwide Children?s Hospital. After learning about the research being conducted and patients who are benefiting from it, the group also toured the research lab. In the lab they saw equipment that is used to sequence the DNA of patients to see if there is a genetic cause of their disease.

Governor DeWine released [ [link removed] ] a report that outlines Intel's progress toward its two new semiconductor manufacturing facilities in Licking County, which continue to move forward with far-reaching impacts across the state. ?

The report, prepared by Intel and submitted to the Ohio Department of Development, shows that the company had spent about $1.5 billion through Dec. 31, 2023. With an additional $3 billion contractually committed, this brings the total committed investment by Intel in Ohio to $4.5 billion to date.?

?The state?s agreement with Intel includes the requirement for an annual report outlining its progress and the resulting impact on Ohio?s economy and workforce,? said Governor DeWine. ?Transparency is always important, and we believe the public should be kept well-informed on the statewide impact of this transformative project.?

?Since the announcement of the largest economic development project in Ohio history, we have worked to provide the most up-to-date information on progress at the Intel site,? said Lt. Governor Husted. ?Construction logistics are quite amazing. Barges of equipment are coming up the Ohio River, getting offloaded in Adams County ? and then the organization of enormous truckloads of equipment making their way to Licking County ? adds to the billions invested already by the company and the growing number of Ohio-based suppliers.?

Governor DeWine and Lt. Governor Husted tours storm damage in Logan Co.

Governor DeWine and Lt. Governor Husted traveled to Logan County for a briefing from local officials on damage caused by deadly tornadoes on Thursday night. They also toured the area and saw the damage around Indian Lake.?

The Ohio Emergency Management Agency (EMA) continues [ [link removed] ] to monitor the situation in western Ohio in the aftermath of an extremely dangerous weather system.? The Ohio EMA, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, and Ohio Department of Transportation are working together to assist local communities that were in the path of the storms.??

?Fran and I are deeply saddened by those impacted by the tornadoes and severe storms,? said Governor DeWine. ?We share the grief of the families who lost loved ones, homes, and livelihoods.? Ohioans will come together as they always do with resilience and compassion as we support and rebuild our communities.?

?Tina and I would like to extend our deepest condolences to the families who lost loved ones during last night?s tornadoes and heavy storms and our prayers to those grappling with the devastation left in their wake,? said?
