The 2024 legislative session concluded last week in what was another successful session in which Republicans worked together to deliver for Hoosiers and their families.

This session can also serve as a reminder that our elections have consequences. This is why we work hard to elect Republicans in all 92 counties - so that we can continue prioritizing Hoosier values. While Democrats in D.C. breed dysfunction with massive deficits and gridlock, Republicans in Indiana deliver results. This session, our Republican legislators worked to improve our education system, infrastructure, public safety, and more. While Democrats in our Nation's Capital continue to fail the American people, Hoosier Republicans lead!

It is imperative that we stay focused and keep our foot on the gas! The consequences of the 2024 election will be HUGE! It is up to us to put in the work to strengthen our county party organizations and support our candidates so that we can elect Republican leadership at every level of government.

Governor Eric Holcomb's Week in Review

🏛️ Gov. Holcomb's 2024 Next Level Agenda Priorities Delivered 🎯

Governor Eric Holcomb shared his thoughts on the end of the legislative session and how pleased he was with the support of his next level agenda.

What he’s saying: “I laid out a significant agenda that will strengthen fundamental programs, resources and services that impact the everyday lives of Hoosiers,” Gov. Holcomb said. “I’m pleased that leadership and members of the General Assembly responded to my 2024 Next Level Agenda with such broad support. The legislative successes provide a game plan to ensure that progress continues for affordable and accessible child care, improved literacy rates and increased access to post-secondary degree programs to better prepare Hoosiers for jobs of the future.” - Gov. Holcomb said in a press release.

What else happened this week? Gov. Holcomb held a ceremonial bill signing for HB 1086, which brings happy hours back to Indiana!

See below for examples of effective Republican legislation that has been signed into law and will continue to take Indiana to the Next Level!

Senate Enrolled Act 1: Reading Skills

Sets goal for 3rd grade students to reach 95% reading proficiency by 2027.
Mandates schools to identify struggling readers earlier, such as administering IREAD in second grade.
Requires that summer school reading programs are offered to students not on track for reading proficiency.

Senate Enrolled Act 2: Child care

Provides Hoosiers more access to quality child care.
Expands eligibility for the state’s On My Way Pre-K Program and state-administered Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) vouchers for the employees of licensed child care entities, providing free or reduced cost child care to members of this critical workforce who earn up to 85 percent of the state’s median income.
Enables more K-12 public schools to qualify as eligible providers for the On My Way Pre-K Program.

Senate Enrolled Act 5: Lead water line replacement and lead remediation

Upgrades lead pipes to protect Hoosiers' health.
Enable utility companies with Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission-approved lead line service replacement plans to replace lead pipes more quickly and in a more cost-effective way.
There are more than 265,000 lead water lines still in use in Indiana. Since lead pipes are known to cause severe health problems in children and adults, SEA 5 would enable utility companies to replace them quickly, efficiently and at a lower cost.

House Bill 1001: Education and higher education matters

Expands the Frank O'Bannon Grant and the 21st Century Scholarship beyond traditional college coursework to include job training.
Expands options for career scholarships accounts (CSAs) that pay for students to pursue internships and apprenticeships with local industries.
Extends eligibility for Education Scholarship Accounts (ESAs) to the siblings of students who have disabilities.

House Bill 1003: Administrative law

Creates a more efficient and balanced appeals process that is presided over by administrative law judges.
Makes rulings by the Office of Administrative Law Proceeding final for disputes between agencies and Hoosiers, and would increase consistency and efficiency in the resolution of these cases.

House Bill 1004: Pension matters

Provides a one-time, post-retirement payment designed to help cover cost-of-living gaps.
Retired public employees like teachers, state excise police, gaming agents, gaming control officers, conservation officers and state police officers who are a part of Indiana’s public pension program will receive a 13th check.

2024 Republican National Convention Internship and Volunteer Programs

Applications are open for the 2024 Republican National Convention Internship Program! The Committee on Arrangements (“COA”) plans for and manages the Republican National Convention. See the one pager with more information above.

To apply for the COA Internship Program, please submit the following:

RNC Internship Application. Please include your Resume and Personal Statement with your submission on the application portal
Two Letters of Recommendation emailed to [email protected]

To ensure a timely review of your application all materials are due by March 31, 2024. The COA Internship Program is a structured, full-time, unpaid internship, and positions are limited. The COA Internship Program begins Thursday, June 6, 2024 and concludes Sunday, July 21, 2024. Hours of business are Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (days and hours subject to change at the discretion of COA or intern supervisors).
