I wanted to share a few updates with you on recent work.
This week, I co-led legislation with my GOP colleagues Rep. Vern Buchanan and Rep. Byron Donalds to deport illegal immigrants who commit sexually violent crimes and ban them from re-entering the country.
Furthermore, I led questioning of Special Counsel Robert Hur in testimony where he affirmed President Biden’s illegal mishandling of classified documents. During the hearing, Democrats repeatedly said Hur’s report “exonerated” Biden – so I asked if that was true. His answer was an emphatic “no.”
In continued oversight of Biden’s disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal, I sent a formal request to the Pentagon for a comprehensive briefing on the findings from the military’s internal report of the Abbey Gate bombing that claimed the lives of 13 servicemembers on August 26, 2021. Two days later, the DOD publicly announced the report was complete. We expect to see the report as soon as possible.
Also this week, I joined the effort to prevent proposed cuts to Medicare Advantage.
Finally, I met with the California Fraternal Order of Police to discuss how Congress can better support our brave men and women in law enforcement.
