Greetings!

I wanted to take a moment to share with you a recap on what happened last week in Texas' 22nd District and the United States House of Representatives.
This Week in Washington
Rep. Troy E. Nehls Votes 'YES' to Pass a Resolution Denouncing the Biden Administration's Immigration Policies
President Joe Biden inherited a secure border, but as soon as he got into office, he reversed President Donald Trump's successful border policies. As a result, over 8.7 million illegal aliens have crossed into our country.

On March 12, 2024, I voted 'YES,' and the House passed H.Res.1065, which denounces the Biden Administration's destructive immigration policies. Specifically, this resolution addresses the pressing issues surrounding border security and immigration enforcement.

Make no mistake, President Biden could end the border crisis today with the stroke of a pen but refuses to do so.

Rep. Troy E. Nehls Votes 'YES' to Pass the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act
This week, I voted 'YES,' and the House passed H.R. 7521, the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, which would protect American's data and private information from our foreign adversaries and prevent them from targeting, surveilling, and manipulating the American people through online applications.

Specifically, this bipartisan legislation would prohibit marketplaces—like app stores and web hosting services—from hosting applications controlled by foreign adversaries of the United States. This includes applications like TikTok, which is owned by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)-controlled ByteDance.

Additionally, this legislation would force applications like TikTok to divest from our foreign adversaries or face a prohibition in the U.S. from app store availability and web store hosting services. If TikTok divests from ByteDance, it can continue to operate in the United States.

We must protect our national security.

2024 Congressional Art Competition is Now Open
My office is now accepting Congressional Art Competition submissions online only by Friday, April 26, 2024.

The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. Since then, over 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition.

The Congressional Art Competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives and is open to all high school students in the 22nd Congressional District of Texas. The winning artwork of our district's competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol, and receive two plane tickets to Washington, D.C. The rules, regulations, application, and checklist can be found on my website.
