# [#]John,
Thank you! With an outpouring of support from folks like you, we won a decisive first-round victory in last week’s primary election, with one of the highest vote totals of any congressional Democrat in California. I’m incredibly grateful for voters placing their trust in me, and I’m fired up to take this momentum into the November election.
Since the beginning of my time in Congress, my focus has been delivering results for critical priorities in every corner of this large, diverse district, and providing leadership that reflects our core values on national issues – from standing up to the fossil fuel industry to fighting for gun violence prevention, protecting reproductive freedom, defending the separation of church and state, protecting voting rights, and much more. I’m ready to dig even deeper, work even harder, and deliver even more results for our district.
Last week Congress finally overcame months of MAGA Republican chaos and passed a slate of government funding bills. I’m proud to report that we succeeded in securing over $9 million in funding for important community projects here in the 2nd District including tribal housing, climate resiliency, community health clinics, water infrastructure and more.
These investments and other funding wins we achieved in a difficult political climate are game-changing for our communities, John.
From addressing unmet housing needs, to wetland restoration and climate resiliency, public safety, water supply reliability and improved access to affordable health care – we’re making progress, growing our economy, and building stronger, healthier, and safer communities.
John, delivering these wins in one of the most dysfunctional Congresses in American history was no easy task. Team Extreme (the House GOP majority) spent months bickering amongst themselves, holding the House hostage by threatening debt defaults and government shutdowns, and wasting many weeks of Congress’ time on internal leadership fights. After months of hyper-partisan antics and overreaching, as our government was about to shut down, MAGA Republicans finally agreed to the sensible spending bill Democrats were proposing all along – and we got that result without capitulating to any of their radical culture war agenda.
While I’m proud of these victories, it shouldn’t be this hard or this messy just to pass a one-year government funding bill. My experience unfortunately convinces me that House Republicans will not learn any lessons from the debacle of the past fifteen months; they’ll keep stoking conflict and Democrats will have to do the serious work of governing.
Like you, I’ve had enough of this extreme MAGA chaos. We simply can’t afford another 2 years of a GOP House majority that puts politics over people. That’s why I’m asking for your support ahead of our March 31 Federal Election Commission (FEC) deadline, John: Will you pitch in to ensure our plans to flip the House this year stay on track? Thanks for all you do. Let’s keep fighting.
