Office Associate II - Information Specialist

This is a customer service position with the Department's Information Center that provides support and assistance to the public.

Responsibilities include answering questions and providing information related to safe and responsible participation in hunting, fishing, and trapping, as well as operation of recreational vehicles. This position also provides guidance to the public about living with wildlife in Maine. This position responds to the public in-person at the MDIFW Augusta headquarters, by phone and by email.?

Additionally, this position serves as the receptionist in the front lobby assisting customers as needed. This position assists with the retail sale of merchandise to the public in person at the MDIFW Augusta headquarters.

Environmental Review Program Coordinator

Do you love Maine?s natural resources, have a working knowledge of state and federal environmental laws as well as skills communicating natural resource protection measures? Join the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife (IMDIFW) to lead one of the Department?s essential programs to protect the State?s fish and wildlife resources! Responsibilities include:


* Providing assessment and guidance regarding science-based species and habitat protection measures.
* Providing critical review and approval of all staff-generated environmental reviews and other work products.
* Working with the IF&W biological staff, state and federal regulatory partners, and permit applicants to implement consistent and effective recommendations for avoiding, minimizing, and mitigating impacts to fish and wildlife habitats.?
* Representing the Department at interagency meetings including those where rules with potential for impacting inland fisheries and wildlife resources are being developed by providing technical assistance related to fish and wildlife issues.?
* Setting work programs and priorities for three team members and promoting program efficiency through training, supportive work environment, and implementation of new technology.?
* Other responsibilities as assigned by the Section Supervisor, Bureau Director, or Commissioner's Office.

Fish Culturist (Seasonal - 30 Weeks) in Casco (Anticipated Vacancy)

This is a full-time permanent seasonal position performing technical services work while participating in all duties associated in the operation of a complex facility that specializes in the propagation of salmonids. Responsibilities include all aspects of fish husbandry, fish transport, and maintenance of the hatchery facility and equipment. The employee must be able to work in diverse physical work environments, often in adverse weather conditions. Some weekend and holiday work is required. This is a reoccurring 30-week position that typically runs from late April until mid-November.
