Crenshaw Backs House Bill to Protect Americans’ Data from Communist China and other Rogue Nations
I was proud to vote in favor of, and co-sponsor the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversaries Act that, that if enacted, will force the sale of TikTok from ByteDance, which is aligned with the Chinese Communist Party.
Data is power, and the Chinese are using Tik Tok to collect information from millions of Americans to use as cultural and psychological warfare against us. We must recognize China’s Marxist view of war and realize TikTok under the ownership of ByteDance is not an innocuous social media platform, it is a weapon being used by Communist China.
Now the Senate needs to act and pass this bill.
See my press release for more details.
U.S. is Facing Threats from Multiple Adversaries around the World, including at our Southern Border
This week, members of the Intelligence community briefed Members of Congress on the Annual Threat Assessment.
I asked our intelligence leaders about the threats posed by Mexican Drug Cartels, the need for a strategy to combat this threat and the importance of having them designated as Foreign Terrorist Organizations. I also pressed them on the fact our adversaries are actively seeking to attack our critical infrastructure, and the need for a strong deterrence to these attacks.
E&C Health Subcommittee Discusses Multiple Bills to Improve Health Outcomes
This week, the Energy & Commerce Health Subcommittee, which I am a member, held a hearing on a variety of public health and payment related bills, including the Traumatic Brain Injury Act.
I spoke on the essential need to reauthorize the Traumatic Brain Injury Act. Roughly 5 million Americans live with TBI, including 30% of our military and a similar number for law enforcement. Research on TBI helps everyone and is critical to treating related conditions, like PTSD and suicide. Reauthorization will save lives and hopefully lead to more information on how to treat and prevent chronic brain injuries.

House Condemns Biden's Failed Immigration Policies
This week the House passed a resolution condemning the Biden Administrations failed open border policies, holding them accountable for creating the worst border security crisis in our nation's history.
Since Biden was sworn in as President, more than 7.4 million migrants have crossed our border illegally, including 170 people on the terrorist watch list. By not securing our border, Biden is putting our national security and personal security at risk.
House Calls on Biden Administration to be Transparent about Unused Office Space under Lease
The House passed the Utilizing Space Efficiently and Improving Technologies Act which directs the Administrator of the General Services Administration and the Director of the Office of Management and Budget to identify the utilization rate of certain public building and federally leased space.
During the pandemic, most federal employees were forced to work remotely. Since then, many have not returned to the office for work. Yet we are still paying leases on those offices. This bill will help determine where we are wasting taxpayer dollars, and where we can cut unused office space.
House Passed Bill to Extend Window to Apply for Disaster Unemployment Assistance
This week, the House also passed the Disaster Assistance Deadlines Alignment Act, which extends the application deadline from 30 days to 60 days for people to apply for assistance under the Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) program.
The DUA program provides assistance to people who are not eligible for unemployment insurance benefits and are unemployed because of a major disaster.
In Texas, DUA is administered by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). Individuals may be eligible if they meet a range of conditions, including:
- Impacted by a week of unemployment following the date of the major disaster,
- Lost their job, which was more than 50% of total income, or
- Lived in, work in, or travel through the disaster area, or place of employment was damaged or closed.
TWC distributed benefits to more than 141,000 Texans following Hurricane Harvey.
In Case You Missed It: This week I discussed our national security and border security on Your World with Neil Cavuto. I also spoke with Brian Kilmeade on his Fox News Radio show about TikTok, our national security and the situation in Haiti.
