John,

If a company knew a product caused harm and didn’t do anything about it, it would be held accountable, right?

Yet, ExxonMobil knew about the catastrophic impacts of runaway climate change since the 1970s and decided to mislead the public for decades. And they still have not been held accountable!

Big Oil spent billions to spread doubt and misinformation about the dangers of fossil fuels and to elect climate deniers at all levels of government — robbing us of a transition to renewable energy in order to reverse the devastating impacts of climate change. All while seeing record profits year after year.

Speculation about when climate change will occur is no longer acceptable, because our climate is changing NOW! It is something we are all experiencing — oppressive heat waves, deadly cold snaps, stronger hurricanes, more frequent wildfires, and unprecedented flooding.

Fossil fuel companies know that their decisions are advancing the climate crisis and they ignored the science and mislead the public. The Department of Justice must hold the fossil fuel industry accountable. They can do so by suing the fossil fuel industry for violation of federal racketeering laws, truth in advertising laws, and consumer protection laws.

Sign the petition to the Department of Justice: Hold the fossil fuel industry accountable for fueling the climate crisis and misleading the public.
