John,

My colleagues and I recently introduced bipartisan legislation that would help revitalize coal country. The RECLAIM Act would provide roughly $300 million to Pennsylvania alone over the next five years to clean up abandoned coal mines.

Abandoned coal mines contribute to polluted streams, hazardous erosion, underground mine fires, and piles of coal waste. Besides bringing much-needed jobs to these communities, this would also help mitigate any environmental or public safety risks that defunct mines pose.

This legislation has bipartisan support in the House -- we can all agree on cleaning up our communities and creating new jobs. Now, I’m asking you to add your name as a citizen co-sponsor.

Let’s show the rest of Congress that this is an issue that must be addressed. Join me as a citizen co-sponsor of the RECLAIM Act >> [[link removed]]

This legislation is common sense, John -- our bill would help eliminate pollution, without forgetting about workers who are impacted by job loss and a stagnant economy.

Coal country needs help both environmentally and economically. Now, we have the opportunity to provide funding to help them get there.

If you believe in creating more green jobs so that workers aren’t left behind in a clean energy economy, sign on to the RECLAIM Act as a citizen co-sponsor >> [[link removed]]

Together, we can help communities in Pennsylvania and across the country reclaim abandoned mine lands for a more sustainable future.

Thanks,

-- Matt
