John -- What a difference a month makes. When I sit down to write these kinds of emails, I’m usually laser focused on hitting the fundraising goals my campaign manager Jake comes up with for us at the end of the quarter. Today, that feels a little bit trivial with everything else going on in the world. But if there’s anything that the past few weeks have underscored to me, it’s the importance of leadership in Washington. Without leadership and decisive action from my colleagues in Congress, the stimulus package we passed last week would not have helped millions of working families and increased financial support for folks who recently lost their jobs. Thankfully, millions of Americans will soon have some financial relief to deal with the economic fallout from COVID-19. It underscores exactly why we need to keep our House majority in November, when my district will be a “battleground.” With Trump on the ballot, Republicans won this seat by 1.5% in 2016. Without Trump on the ballot, we won by 1.0% in 2018. There’s no doubt -- whoever wins in November, Karen Handel or myself -- 2020 will be extremely close. I’ve got to get back to a full calendar of video meetings, conference calls, and other business coordinating the response to COVID-19 here in Georgia. The election in November is going to be the most important in our lifetimes. In the last month, Democrats have demonstrated we’re ready to step up and lead at every level. Now, we need to get our message to voters in swing states and swing districts across the country. And getting that message out takes resources. I truly believe that it takes a village, John. By working together, we’ve made so much progress on our fight for gun safety in the last several years.
