During the current legislative session, OAH is pursuing over 50 proposals across two bills.
Workers? Compensation
Over 30 of OAH?s proposals were approved by the Workers? Compensation Advisory Council (WCAC) on February 21. These proposals are included in HF 4661/SF 4745.
OAH?s Workers? Compensation proposals contain almost entirely technical clean-up that reflect established practice. They also contain one procedural change: requiring electronic filing in C-Track, with an exception for pro se employees. This change is consistent with the law already in place for the Department of Labor and Industry?s Campus system.
All other proposals
All other OAH proposals are included in HF 4854/SF 4891. The bill includes proposals related to data practices, court operations, rulemaking, and fair campaign cases. The proposals seek to correct technical errors in existing statutes, conform to certain judicial branch standards, and update existing statutes to reflect modern practices. The proposals also support OAH in directly contracting with court-certified interpreters.
Thank you!
Last fall, you provided over 70 ideas for our bills. Many of those ideas were included in the proposed bills described above. Some suggestions we received were not technical, not procedural, or not items within OAH?s jurisdiction. We shared some of these ideas with other agencies for their consideration. We also expressed to bar leaders that the substantive policy proposals are ideas they can pursue but are simply not appropriate for a neutral court to propose. Thank you for your engagement!
