Team — our final mid-month fundraising deadline of the quarter hits at midnight tonight, and in a moment I’m going to ask you to chip in to help us catch up with our fundraising goal. [[link removed]] But first, I wanted to tell you a bit about my journey to Congress, and why your support really goes a long way:
The truth is, when I talk to my colleagues in Congress, I don’t encounter a lot of people who walked a similar path that I did to get there.
I was born into a working-class family right here in Colorado — my mom was a hairdresser, and my dad worked in construction.
After a back injury, my mom was prescribed opioids, which kicked off a decades-long battle with addiction. My entire family struggled for a long time. But thanks to the support of the incredible community around me — and because of the investments in a high-quality public education — I became the first person in my family to graduate from high school and college.
I got to work for my community, and eventually won a hard-fought race to serve in the Colorado legislature. After all, I wanted to ensure that future Coloradans could enjoy the same opportunities I did. After ten years representing JeffCo in the State House and Senate, I ran for Congress here in CO-07 to continue advocating for working Colorado families in Washington.
It’s no secret that too many families’ needs often go overlooked in the halls of Congress. That’s why I’m working every day to deliver necessary investments to communities big and small across our state. But I also know we’ve got a LONG way to go.
If we want to continue the fight to uplift working-class families, combat our nation’s opioid epidemic, and protect basic freedoms like the freedom to choose, we need to do everything we can to keep this seat out of the hands of the far-right and flip the House blue. Can you chip in $25 before our big fundraising deadline at midnight tonight to support my fight?
