Fight for $15

John,

We're just a few months into 2024, and it's already been a huge year for labor wins. On picket lines and at the bargaining table, young people like me are pushing for better workplaces and respect from corporations.

Over 88 percent of people under 30 support unions. We're united in our goal: unions for all! [[link removed]]

Young people know what corporate greed and the lack of accountability looks like. We came of age during the 2008 financial crisis. In our lifetimes, we've seen CEO salaries go up, more tax breaks for the rich, and a global pandemic where thousands of essential workers died, all because their employers didn't care if they got sick. Those of us who work for a living are struggling more and more to get by.

We refuse to tolerate it any longer. We demand our fair share and workplaces that respect us.

Just look at the Starbucks victory last month. For years, young workers (including myself!) have been leading the way and calling for a fair contract and an end to union-busting. There were naysayers who didn't believe a bunch of young people could make demands of a multinational, billion dollar corporation. But we didn't give up. We organized, and together won credit card tipping and an agreement to work together on a fair contract. Now we've won union elections at over 400 stores! Young people are also leading the way in unionizing companies like Trader Joe's and Amazon.

The new generation of labor activists are building on the work of fast food and other service workers because unions are our best shot at leveling the playing field and getting what we have earned. Sign on in solidarity with young union organizers: unions for all now >> [[link removed]]
