Hi JOHN,
I'm part of an important new campaign called Leave it Blank NY and I need your help spreading the word!
New York presidential primaries are coming up April 2nd (early voting March 23-30) and I'm planning to submit a blank ballot for Gaza. If you are registered to vote in New York, I hope you will join me.
We don't have "uncommitted" or write-in options in New York, but our blank ballots are counted. So we're building a movement to #LeaveitBlank for Palestine.
With at least 30,000 Palestinians killed and millions more on the brink of forced starvation, President Biden continues to fuel genocide with our tax dollars against the will of the American people.
We MUST take every chance to fight back and send a clear message to the administration that New Yorkers want a lasting ceasefire and investment in our communities, not more death and destruction.
If you remember my story and 2022 campaign for Congress, then you remember that my experiences in the grossly corrupt and catastrophically counter-productive "War on Terror" convinced me that you can't bomb your way to peace or kill your way to safety.
The words the EMT shouted as flames engulfed Active Duty Airman Aaron Bushnell in front of the Israeli Embassy have echoed in my head ever since: "I don't need a gun, I need a fire extinguisher."
We live in a society with fires to put out all around us, but our leaders hand us guns.
A ceasefire is a fire extinguisher.
Housing is a fire extinguisher.
Reproductive rights are a fire extinguisher.
Healthcare for all is a fire extinguisher.
Climate justice is a fire extinguisher.
I could go on and on. The truth is that nothing will change until we have a government more accountable to the people than to corporations. But in the meantime we must continue to fight with all our might: for our children, for our future, for humanity. We must do everything we can and voting blank is something we can do.
In love and solidarity always,
Brittany Ramos DeBarros
