Dear Friend,
As Comptroller, I'm constantly looking out for our state's finances - and our state's finances are dependent on the finances of our working families. Whether highlighting challenges we face in reports like our State of the Economy Report [[link removed]] or through our small business or labor advisory councils, I am dedicated to finding new ways to support working Marylanders and working families.
Last week we started a new effort: I joined Governor Moore, Attorney General Brown, and the Maryland Department of Labor to kick off the Maryland Joint Enforcement Task Force on Workplace Fraud [[link removed]] . This task force will enforce our state's wage and workplace fraud laws - ensuring that law-abiding employers are not at an unfair disadvantage and holding scofflaws accountable. As an attorney who represented working people, I saw firsthand the employers who were willing to stiff their workers were also harming the state. I look forward to our agency cracking down on tax evaders.

This past Monday, I also joined hundreds of workers from unions around the state for the annual AFL-CIO rally on Lawyer's Mall in Annapolis. It makes me proud to stand with so many Marylanders who work tirelessly to contribute to the economic and social achievements of our state.
I will continue to stand with and fight for Maryland workers. When our workers do well, Maryland does well. Onwards!
My best,
