NCRC Awarded Largest HUD Housing Counseling Training And Services Grant

Regulators Should Block Capital One-Discover Merger, Advocacy Groups Write In Joint Letter

“The scale and scope of harms represented by this transaction are enormous,” the National Community Reinvestment Coalition, the American Economic Liberties Project, Public Citizen, Americans for Financial Reform and 18 other signers wrote in the letter ([link removed] ) . “The threat is grave, not just to the dynamism of the economy and the stability and competitiveness of the financial services sector, but to American businesses and the health of consumers across the country. Gender Differences In Unemployment Trends: Race, Jobs And The Economy Update For February 2024

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) monthly jobs report and the ADP National Employment Report provide a deep look into employment and income. The February BLS report has the unemployment rate at 3.4% for White workers, 5.6% for Black workers, 3.4% for Asian workers and 5.0% for Hispanic workers.

Why The Community Reinvestment Act Is Back In The News - Again

Over at Fast Company, financial journalist James Surowiecki writes that the Capital One-Discover merger could be a boon for consumers and business owners, who could see lower swipe fees with the addition of a larger competitor to Visa and MasterCard. But bank watchdogs, consumer rights, and civil rights groups remain unconvinced, with 18 signatories so far to a letter detailing numerous concerns that include what they view as violations of the Community Reinvestment Act as well as potential violations of federal anti-trust laws.
