Friend --
State of the Nation this
Sunday

New Zealand First's annual State of the Nation public meeting
will be held at 1pm, Sunday 17 March at the Palmerston North
Convention Centre.
The past year proved that we could do the impossible, and now
with 100 days of the coalition government under our belt, not a second
has been wasted on returning commonsense and balance to our
country.
However, New Zealand faces dire circumstances after three
years of massive social and economic mismanagement. We'll give you the
real State of the Nation.
Join like-minded New Zealanders concerned about the direction
of our country. Follow our Facebook
page for live updates or we will see you
there!
New Zealand First in the
community
Recess weeks mean that our MPs and their teams can get out
into the community to hear from everyday kiwis. We love being a part
of local community events, hearing from people on the ground about
what is happening for them, and participating in discussions with
businesses and community groups.

Mark Patterson Hawkeswood Alluvial Gold Mine and Roxburgh Hydro
Dam across Central Otago.

Tanya Unkovich visits North Haven Hospice and NorthChamber
Chamber of Commerce across Northland and does a 'ride-along' with
Community Patrol New Zealand in Auckland.

Jenny Marcroft across the top of the South Island meeting with
the seafood sector, joined by Andy Foster and Jamie Arbuckle at
the Marine Farms Association.

Visits by Jamie Arbuckle and Andy Foster to Omaka
Aviation Centre, Marlborough District Council, Port Marlborough to
discuss IRex, Marlborough Marine Farmers Association, Marlborough
Library and Art Gallery funded by the PGF, Summerset Retirement home
development, Marlborough Girls college.
Covid Inquiry – terms of reference
submissions
We have received regular correspondence on the progress of
the covid inquiry and we know how important this issue is to so many
New Zealanders.
During this first stage, it is important to have your say on
what you think the terms of reference for the inquiry should be. This
will inform the scope of the inquiry going
forward.
Feedback
on the terms of reference - Royal Commission of Inquiry into COVID-19
- Citizen Space
The time frame for submissions on the terms of reference will
remain open until March 24.
New Zealand First remains committed to progress on this
inquiry just as we campaigned on in 2023 and we will continue to bring
you updates as and when they occur.
In the media this
week

Rt Hon Winston Peters has been overseas this week promoting
New Zealand’s partnerships with our international connections. You can
see more of his travels on his Facebook
and
X (Twitter)
pages.

Following the legislation announcement for fast-track
consenting last week, there has been plenty of media coverage. Of
particular interest was an article in the Herald written by Audrey
Young.
Evident when the Fast Track Approvals Bill went through
parliament, the article discusses the use of Treaty references in
legislation. Have a read and let us know what you
think.
All Shane’s interviews from the week can be found
below:
"We are traditional Westminster parliamentarians.
Sovereignty rests with Parliament and we want to avoid a situation on
Treaty matters where the rule of law is replaced by the rule of
lawyers". – Shane Jones
Team updates

We had a great set up at the Central District Field Days this
week in Fielding, with plenty of our team there to talk about all
things New Zealand First, and what we have been achieving for you in
parliament.
Wellington based Andy Foster
made his first
appearance on our regular interview panel with TV1 Breakfast
too. You can
find the link to
watch
And make sure you take a listen to Cam Slater’s latest
episode on Reality Check Radio, as he interviews List MP Tanya
Unkovich on her journey so far in parliament.
Our team will be back in Wellington next week and we will
bring you all the updates.
