CHAIR'S CORNER
A Message of Gratitude and Encouragement: Our Caucus Success

Aloha Members of the Hawaii Republican Party,

As your State Chair, it's with great pride and gratitude that I address each one of you following our recent Hawaii Republican Party Caucus.

First and foremost, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to every one of you. The determination and coming together demonstrated across all counties in Hawaii were great to witness. Each of you played a role in navigating the challenges we faced, proving that when we pull together, we can make things happen.

While we acknowledge that the voter turnout did not reach the totals we initially hoped for, the results tell an important story. Our caucus saw a higher turnout than that of the Democrats, a significant achievement considering how much they spent. This fact alone is a testament to our collective efforts, our message, and how people feel about our current state of affairs.

The feedback we received indicated that the suspension of campaigns by seven candidates, also with President Donald Trump's motion as the nominee by Rona McDaniels, led many to believe their presence at the caucus was unnecessary. However, what we demonstrated was that in person paper ballots work. We were successful in our outcome compared to our opponents. This outcome sends a clear signal there is a desire for change.

It's crucial to observe that even within the Democratic ranks, there is a group of voters dissatisfied with their options. Noticeably, more people came out to vote for Donald Trump than Joe Biden. This insight is significant and it shows a shifting landscape and an opportunity for us to continue making strides.

As we move forward, let's remain committed to our grassroots efforts. The need for candidates that align with our values and can effect change is evident, and together, we have the power to make a real impact.

I also want to extend Mahalo to everyone involved in making the caucus a success in Hawaii, this includes all those who help set up, count ballots, who brought food, and lots of aloha. Your dedication and hard work, from those from the Big Island to Kauai who showed up to count ballots, was much appreciated. A special thanks also goes out to the Presidential Campaigns and their leadership for their cooperative and pleasant engagement throughout the process.

Congratulations are in order for President Donald Trump for securing 97% of the votes in our caucus. Additionally, I am thrilled to announce that the Hawaii Republican Party had 187% more people participate in our caucus compared to the Democrats. This is not just a victory but a call for the continued dedication to our grassroots efforts.

If you would like more information on becoming a delegate or alternate, please contact Shirlene Ostrav at: [email protected]

In closing, let's keep this momentum going. Your hard work, passion, and commitment are the driving forces behind our success. Together, we are not just making a statement, we are paving the way for substantial and positive change.

Thank you once again for your tireless efforts and unwavering support.

Warm regards,
Tamara McKay
Hawaii Republican State Chair

------------------------------------------------------------
Why this meeting important for you to attend? The Election Commission is supposed to be the watch dog of the Election Office. They are to advise the Chief Election Officer on matters relating to elections and to hold a public hearing on the job performance of the Chief Election Officer. They also are supposed to consider the information gathered at the hearing in deliberations on the Chief Election Officer’s reappointment. There was no proper notice of this meeting, and the Election Commission went into executive session (i.e. outside of the public hearing) during deliberations. Are these violations of the Sunshine Law, as it pertains to HRS 11-7.5? When they returned, the motion to reappoint the Chief Election Officer, Scott Nago, failed. This means the C.E.O should be out of a job. Instead, they are going to try to take the vote again, even though it failed.

Read the list of Election Commission duties in 11-7.5 (here ([link removed]) ).
