Dear John --
This week marks an important step in our constructive and
principled approach to scrutinising the Government’s response to
Covid-19.
I believe the health and safety of our people is paramount,
but Kiwis rightly have many questions about how decisions made on
their behalf affect them, their families, and their
communities.
Last week, an Epidemic Response Committee (ERC) was created by
Parliament to provide the opportunity to question officials on the
issues that matter to you.
As the Chairman of that Committee, I want to ensure our
scrutiny provides clear answers and reassurance for you, and
ultimately helps to make our collective nationwide response to
Covid-19 a better one and a stronger one.
The ERC will be meeting online every Tuesday, Wednesday, and
Thursday from 10am to 12:30pm. Our first meeting will focus on our
nation’s health response by hearing from the Minister of Health,
Director-General of Health and others.
You can watch the Committee’s meeting live on
my Facebook page here
You can also watch it live on Parliament TV on Freeview Channel 31
or Sky Channel 86.
I want to keep Kiwis as informed and up to date as possible on
everything Government agencies are doing to keep us safe now, and
ultimately how we can bring our country out of this epidemic on a
strong foundation for the future.
If you have any questions you want answers to, please email me at
[email protected]
We are all in this together.
Regards
Simon
