Dear John, Thank you to all those who joined us for the Local Peace Economy meeting last night! We are grateful to have been able to spend time with you as we reflected on stories and their role in the local peace economy. As Rivera Sun reminded us during the call, stories are older than war. If you want to revisit the content, or if you weren’t able to join us, you can watch the recording of last night’s call. Our next meeting will be Wednesday, March 27th at 5:00 PT/8:00 ET. During this call, we will be talking about mapping. Where are you? What exists where you live? How do you experience your connection to this place? You can read more about mapping on page 117 of The Local Peace Economy Workbook. Links shared during the call:

If you have any questions, please email Emily at [email protected]. We look forward to seeing you on March 27th! Inspired by you, Jodie and Emily The Summer Dayby Mary OliverWho made the world? Who made the swan, and the black bear? Who made the grasshopper? This grasshopper, I mean— the one who has flung herself out of the grass, the one who is eating sugar out of my hand, who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down— who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes. Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face. Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away. I don't know exactly what a prayer is. I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass, how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields, which is what I have been doing all day. Tell me, what else should I have done? Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon? Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life? |
