WYOMING ? J.R. Simplot Company [ [link removed] ] and Par Pacific [ [link removed] ] were recently recognized by the EPA for reducing their energy use while providing cost-saving energy efficiency solutions that protect the climate, improve air quality, and protect public health.

The two Wyoming companies were among 103 others nationwide that earned the EPA?s ENERGY STAR [ [link removed] ] certification in 2023.??

According to the EPA?s press release, this designation is reserved for manufacturing plants in the top 25% of energy efficiency in their sector. Together with those recognized, J.R. Simplot Company and Par Pacific played a part in preventing more than 8 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions, equivalent to the emissions from the electricity use of more than 1. 5 million American homes.

A voluntary program, those that choose to participate may display the ENERGY STAR logo if energy efficiency specifications set by the EPA are met.??

Participants must earn an 1-100 ENERGY STAR score of 75 or higher ? indicating that they operate more efficiently than at least 75% of similar facilities nationwide.??

J.R. Simplot Company, located in Rock Springs is a manufacturer of nitrogenous fertilizer and a past recipient of the certification. Par Pacific, a petroleum refinery located in Newcastle, is a first time recipient.

?We congratulate J.R. Simplot Company and Par Pacific for this well-earned recognition,? said Wyoming?s Director of the Department of Environmental Quality Todd Parfitt. ?These two companies are to be commended for their commitments that not only benefit the company but also benefit all of Wyoming.???
