Friend,
The National Shooting Sports Foundation, the NSSF for short, is the firearm industry’s biggest trade group, representing gun manufacturers and retailers and, as the NRA crumbles in disgrace, they are poised to take on their deadly ‘guns everywhere’ agenda.
The NSSF wants to set themselves apart from the NRA, but the truth is the two groups have the same deadly agenda – they’re trying to put lipstick on a pig, parading like an organization that’s focused on gun safety when they’re spending millions to fight gun laws, putting Americans at risk.
The NSSF has a board made up of top firearm company executives, including from Smith and Wesson, so it’s no surprise that they are steadfastly, singularly dedicated to maintaining and expanding the power of the gun industry. For the NSSF, gun violence prevention is bad for their bottom line and with growing revenue and membership, they’re spending more and more to further gun lobby interests in Congress.
Last year, the NSSF spent $5.4 million on lobbying, more than twice as much money as the NRA, and have funneled millions more into efforts to overturn the most basic, fundamental gun safety laws in the country in past years.

And they aren’t new to this deadly game: They’ve been quietly working against our fight to end gun violence for years, including opposing the effort to pass universal background checks in the wake of the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary, lobbying to boost arms company interests, and challenging state laws that limit gun industry protection. They go so far as to characterize President Biden as waging war on the Second Amendment.
Luckily, we at Brady know how to fight the NSSF, because we’ve been fighting the NRA for years and we’re seeing the disgraceful end of their organization play out because of our dedicated work. We may know their tricks, but we’re going to need all the support we can get if we’re going to overcome another extremist gun lobby group and that’s why I’m reaching out today, friend.
