John,
House Republicans have resorted to utilizing government shutdowns as a harmful tactic, resulting in needless hardship for millions of individuals.
When the government shuts down, our nation's security, economy, and public welfare are put in jeopardy. Essential services, like Social Security checks and food assistance, come to a standstill, federal employees work without pay, parks and libraries close and the repercussions are felt nationwide.
It's time for a straightforward solution: automatic continuing resolution, a common-sense policy that would support our economy, protect services like Social Security and Medicare, and ensure our government works for the people, always.
When Congress can't agree on a budget, this mechanism would keep the government funded at existing levels, preventing shutdowns and ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of government services.
No bargaining chip. No collateral damage. Just responsible governance. Stand with us as we call on Congress to end the threat of government shutdowns forever.
During the longest government shutdown in history, over 800,000 federal employees went without pay, critical services were disrupted, and our economy took a hit to the tune of billions of dollars.
We can't afford to let history repeat itself.
The path to change is clear. By implementing automatic continuing resolutions, we can safeguard our nation from the fallout of future shutdowns.
This will ensure the stability and effectiveness of our government.
Our message to Congress is simple: End the threat of government shutdowns once and for all.
Let's keep working to ensure a stable and secure future for all Americans.
