Hardworking Marylanders are looking for economic relief
John,
Were you as alarmed as I was to see this headline?
As Marylanders are dealing with skyrocketing inflation, record-high interest rates, and grocery and gas bills that seem to take an even higher percentage of people’s paychecks, it seems crazy to stack on additional taxes.
Hardworking Marylanders need economic relief - not tax hikes.
When I was governor, we approached the budget with common sense so that we could cut taxes eight years in a row by $4.7 billion and we could implement a $1.86 billion tax package– the largest tax cut in state history. We did this while creating a record budget surplus.
As Governor, I always put Marylanders first, and I promise to do so in the U.S. Senate too.
When I was governor, we were able to reverse Maryland’s decline from 49th to 6th in overall economic performance because we created a booming economy. And, we can do it again if you help me get to the Senate.
America is facing an even more ominous tax deficit, and just like the headline above, Washington wants to solve it by just raising taxes on Americans and American businesses.
I know how to turn a failing economic trajectory around, and I would be privileged to do it as your Senator.
