Ayanna Pressley for Congress

The House just passed legislation that could ban TikTok in the U.S. I voted NO.

We need comprehensive data privacy legislation — not a rushed, narrow policy that targets one platform that millions rely on to get news, make a living, and build community with one another.

When it comes to the need for Congressional action on social media — particularly to address safety, mental health, and harassment implications, I won’t mince words. We must take immediate action to enact greater oversight over big tech and social media companies including TikTok, but the bill voted on in the House is the wrong approach.

Congress must take a holistic and comprehensive approach to regulating big tech, protecting our data privacy, and stopping the spread of disinformation. And I intend to keep fighting for legislation that effectively addresses these issues.

Yours in service,

Ayanna
