If you haven't yet taken this action, there's still time! And if you have, please share it with your community. We're in this to win it!
Autonomous Indigenous nations of the Peruvian Amazon have created a new alliance with fishing communities of the north Peruvian coast to denounce oil exploitation on their territories and call for no new financing of Petroperú.
After confronting the company at its massive refinery in Talara, the MarAmazonía alliance will soon head to New York City in an attempt to meet with bank representatives and share their first-hand experiences. Will you join them and stop the flow of money to oil drilling in the Amazon?
The action consists of two opportunities:
- Send a prewritten message directly to bank representatives from Citibank, Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, and HSBC demanding they meet with communities to hear first-hand testimonies of the potential impacts of financing Petroperú.
- Tweet at these banks demanding that they publicly commit not to finance Petroperú or ignore its record of destruction on Indigenous lands.
Now is your chance to take action in solidarity with Indigenous peoples of the Peruvian Amazon as they build pressure on those institutions that enable human and territorial rights violations!
