The ERA has been proposed for decades, but where the original federal language provided for equal rights under the law for women, the Minnesota ERA provides for equal rights under the law on the basis of gender identity, which is a matter of an individual’s opinion, not biology.
So if the ERA is passed it means the end of female spaces such as locker rooms, restrooms, prisons and domestic abuse shelters, because anyone who claimed to be a woman would have a constitutionally-protected right to access them.
What’s more, the language also provides equal rights under the law on the basis of age, which would allow adult males access to children’s spaces, and would prevent parents from protecting their children from the so-called gender medicine industry that seeks to profit from identity confusion.
But that’s not all, John!
Leftist extremists have also added explicit abortion protections. The ERA would add a constitutional right to abortion up to the moment of birth.
That should be enough to send a shiver down your spine, but I’m not done.
There’s also the issue of what’s not in the new incarnation of the ERA: any protection for religious freedom. We used to have the ambiguous word “creed” in there to offer some measure of protection for those who are guided by religious beliefs. That word is absent in the proposed updated version, stripping away any semblance of respect or deference to your values and mine.
No exceptions for churches and other houses of worship, or for Christian schools, let alone businesses run by people of faith. And this is no accident. ERA advocates have been forthright about their intention to override religious freedom with this legislation.
This is no cute, cuddly, harmless hippopotamus. It’s an existential threat to you, me, our children and grandchildren, and our way of life.
That’s why opposing it is our top priority this legislative session. We know that some intelligent, thoughtful and well-meaning legislators are deceived by its name. Nine legislators who are allies on key issues voted FOR it last May, when it was passed by the Minnesota Senate.
It’s not just legislators that need to be warned. It is vitally important that all Minnesotans know that this is a wolf in sheep’s clothing, because you may be voting on it in an upcoming election.
If it passes the Minnesota House and Senate, it will be on the ballot this fall, or in 2026 – to drive turnout on the left for those elections – and then we’ll have to expose the danger of the ERA to 4 million registered Minnesota voters instead of just 67 Senators and 134 Representatives.
That kind of campaign, with a massive inflow of nationwide pro-abortion and pro-transgender funding to Minnesota, would stretch our resources very thin. That’s why we must prevail now, and why we must raise more money – not just for this fight but for future ones. Even if we prevent the ERA from passing the legislature now, we’ll surely be fighting it again next year.
John, if you’re as disturbed as I am by the reality of the oh-so-innocent sounding “Equal Rights Amendment” please do what you can to support our efforts to expose and oppose it. Your urgently needed gift of $25, $50, $100 or even more, as the Lord leads will fuel our efforts to shine light on this dark piece of legislation. Thank you, and God bless you!
