Dear John,

One of my favorite things about working at NeW is the opportunity to meet and talk with so many amazing college women. I caught up with our NeW at The University of South Carolina chapter and asked them some questions about the work they're doing on campus.

Q: Why is NeW important to your chapter?
A: NeW is important to us because we can gain friendships and build a community. In today's society it is so important for women to know who they can trust and who they can be themselves around. NeW has provided an outlet for us to talk about important topics and become professional and confident women.

Q: What kind of impact has your chapter had on campus?
A: Our chapter recently hosted Riley Gaines and it brought a large crowd. More than 100 people showed up to listen about protecting women in sports. This impacted our campus by bringing awareness to this issue. Many people did not know who Riley Gaines was and after we shared her story with them, they understood why we were having her speak and wanted to come listen to her.

Q: What has been your chapter's favorite event/meeting to host, and why?
A: Riley Gaines! This was such an amazing event that we had opened to the public and was great publicity for our chapter. We had girls come up to us wanting to join. After this event, I look forward to future events with our NeW chapter and cannot wait for more girls to get involved with our chapter!

Q: What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a chapter on their campus?
A: Just do it! It may be a slow start, but the more events you do, especially with well-known speakers, the more publicity you will get and people will start to join. Make the space inviting so girls feel comfortable. Don't get down on yourself, just try your best!

It was so great to catch up with the women of NeW at the University of South Carolina. I hope this inspires you to continue seeking a conservative community in every season of life.

2024 Essay Contest

NeW’s annual Essay Contest is open and accepting submissions until March 31.

This year, the winning college and high school essay writers will receive a $1,000 scholarship and the chance to be published.

Capitol Hill Intern Summit

Do you know any students in DC this spring? The Network of enlightened Women is proud to host our annual Capitol Hill Intern Summit on Thursday, April 4, 2024. The program will run from 11am-2pm at the Capitol Hill Club. This FREE event is open to female interns, Capitol Hill staffers, and students in the Washington, DC area. Lunch will be provided for all attendees.

This year, attendees will hear from Adeline Sandridge, Deputy Chief of Staff for Congresswoman Kat Cammack (FL-3), for a session titled, “Five Things You Didn’t Learn During Your Hill Internship (but should have!).”

They will also hear from Ellie Cohanim, Senior Fellow at the Independent Women’s Forum, host of “Global Perspectives with Ellie Cohanim” for Jewish News Syndicate, and former U.S. Deputy Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism at the U.S. Department of State, for a session titled “Conflict in the Middle East and Lessons in Diplomacy.”

The Goldwater Institute will be hosting a webinar on March 19 at 3pm EST, featuring NeW President Karin Lips, Goldwater Vice President Christina Sandefur, and Goldwater Ronald Reagan Fellow and NeW at University of Arizona President Cameron Teel. Karin will be on the webinar to discuss her new book, You’re Not Alone: The Conservative Woman’s Guide to College.
