Governor Mike DeWine Appoints
Judge James P. Salyer to the Vinton County
Court of Common Pleas, General Division
(McArthur, Ohio) - Ohio Governor Mike DeWine today announced the appointment of James P. Salyer to serve as a judge on the Vinton County Court of Common Pleas, General Division.
Salyer, of McArthur,?will?assume office on April 26, 2020, and must run for election on November 3, 2020, for the remainder of the term ending December 31, 2022. Salyer is replacing Judge Jeffery Simmons who retired from the Vinton County Court of Common Pleas, General Division on February 29, 2020.
Salyer currently is a judge in the Vinton County Court. He also is a private practice attorney and has served as Special Counsel to the Attorney General of the State of Ohio and legal counsel for the Village of McArthur. He received his bachelor?s degree from The Ohio State University and law degree from the University of Dayton School of Law.? Salyer was a Captain in the United States Army Reserve, serving from 1995-2001. He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and Ohio Municipal/County Judges Association.
