We are renovating our bookstore—and we need your help! For decades, Middle East Books and More has been the go-to place for Washington, DC residents and visitors who want to learn more about the Middle East and show their support for the dignity of Palestinians and all peoples of the region. Our store is now a hub for students, activists, scholars and others craving community and solidarity.
We began as a small shop, mostly serving as a bookclub for our magazine, the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs. Over the years, we have gradually grown, and now—thanks to your support—we've outgrown our space.
Our new renovated store will include an event space where we can regularly host book talks, film screenings and other community gatherings. We can finally expand our selection of products and offer highly requested items, such as a more expansive selection of books in Arabic. The enlarged store will allow us to provide even greater support for authors who boldly challenge the status quo in the U.S. and the region, and provide greater economic opportunities for local businesses in Palestine and beyond who already benefit from our robust sales of pottery, olive oil, keffiyehs and more.
We are bullish about our expansion, but as a non-profit we need help from you to make this new and improved community space a reality. Any support you can provide to help us continue our mission—which is more vital than ever—is greatly appreciated.
