John,

Public service is my life. From serving in the military to being Governor of Maryland — I have made it my life’s mission to serve the people.
That’s why I have to address the ongoing threat to our country’s democracy in the form of Donald Trump.

This week, Trump effectively secured the Republican nomination for the third presidential election in a row.

Here’s the bottom line: Americans have a very clear choice in this election.

We can either support President Biden, who focuses on enhancing opportunities, pathways, and freedoms for the people around this country versus Donald Trump who will exclusively focus on his own freedom until November.

The stakes couldn’t be clearer. We’re going to spend the next nine months hearing Trump fight for his freedom and his future. What we’re not going to hear is Trump fighting for our freedoms or our futures.

If there is one thing that I have discovered from running a historic campaign to serving as Governor, it’s that people drive democracy. Participating in our democracy is vital to ensuring we all have a say in the future we all deserve.

Democracy is only as strong as its people. We all have an important part to play in keeping our democracy functional and we must do what we can to protect voting rights and the right to cast a vote in a free and fair election.

Democracy is on the line this year, John. Thank you for supporting the effort to fight for our collective democratic values.

Elevate,

Wes Moore
