Dear John,
We are proud to share the results of our recently concluded 2024 Annual Member Survey [[link removed]] . Your participation has provided us with a clear mandate for our priorities and policy positions for the next 12-24 months.
This year’s survey was conducted against a backdrop of significant geopolitical unrest, a plausible genocide, regional war and presidential elections. Your input is more crucial than ever. Here are some of the key takeaways that will shape our agenda:
*
Urgent
Priorities:
Preventing
war
between
the
U.S.
and
Iran,
along
with
securing
a
ceasefire
between
Israel
and
Palestine,
emerged
as
top
priorities.
This
reflects
a
collective
desire
for
peace,
diplomacy
and
stability
in
the
region.

*
Strong
Concerns
Over
Domestic
Civil
Rights:
The
majority
of
you
expressed
significant
concerns
over
threats
to
civil
rights
and
immigration
restrictions,
including
discriminatory
bank
account
closures
and
attempts
to
ban
travel
to
Iran,
underscoring
the
importance
of
our
advocacy
in
these
areas.

*
Robust
Support
for
Diplomacy:
An
overwhelming
consensus
urged
that
NIAC
continue
its
support
for
U.S.
diplomacy
with
Iran,
highlighting
much-needed
pathways
to
peace.

*
Nuanced
Views
on
Sanctions:
Your
responses
indicate
a
growing
number
of
members
oppose
all
sanctions
on
Iran,
while
a
slight
majority
continue
to
favor
opposing
broad
sanctions
while
supporting
targeted
sanctions.

*
Election
Priorities:
For
the
presidential
election,
a
majority
of
respondents
said
they
would
either
vote
for
someone
other
than
Biden
or
Trump
or
would
not
vote.
While
Biden
tied
with
Other
in
this
year’s
survey
as
the
top
vote
getters,
this
is
in
stark
contrast
to
the
over
85%
of
respondents
who
voted
in
favor
of
endorsing
Biden
in
2020.
NIAC
Action
members
voted
that
Congressional
elections
and
electing
progressive
champions
should
be
our
top
priorities,
and
respondents
ranked
a
candidate’s
position
on
ceasefire
and
on
war
and
peace
issues
as
their
top
two
deciding
factors
in
deciding
which
candidates
to
support.

Your feedback not only informs our strategic direction but also reinforces our pride in being an organization fundamentally guided by its members.
